About this course
Participants develop individual film and video projects through research, concept refinement, technical experimentation and critical reflection. Teaching combines group practical sessions, question-and-answer discussions, critiques, observations and personalised tutor consultations, with work produced using specialist classroom facilities. The course covers the journey from developing and pitching an idea to filming, editing and final presentation. Topics include cinematography, photography, visual language, composition, sound recording, soundtrack construction, post-production and film theory. Learners build a body of coursework and prepare for participation in a screening.

The course is intended for filmmakers working at an intermediate level who are developing individual projects and extending their technical and critical practice. Previous Level 2 film study or an intermediate-level portfolio is required, along with a tutor interview. Participation combines independent project work with group practical sessions, critiques and consultations.
