About this course
The course develops ensemble playing through whole-class rehearsals and smaller consorts, with one or two players assigned to each part. Sessions address the relationship between individual lines and the overall musical texture, alongside discussion and application of different playing styles and techniques. Participants work on playing in tune and in time, sight-reading and rehearsal technique, including historically informed performance practice and specialised approaches for different musical styles. Learning may also be supported by recordings, online videos, mobile applications and Microsoft Teams. Discussions and contributions take place in English.

Is this course right for you?
This course is intended for experienced recorder players working at around Grade 5 standard or above. Participants should be able to play at least two recorder sizes confidently and read music with some sight-reading ability. It involves collaborative rehearsal, smaller-group playing, English-language discussion and practice on individual parts outside class.
