Advanced Scene Work Course

About this course

The course examines the acting side of improvisation through sensory exploration, physicality, object work, emotional expression and character choices. Participants use the senses to establish specific, believable realities, connect with scene partners and sustain characters beyond initial entrances. Teaching combines improv exercises with acting techniques, including work on creating comedy through emotion, expressing strong feelings in different ways and developing scenes that do not rely solely on dialogue. Participants perform two-minute improvised scenes in a La Ronde showcase format.

Is this course right for you?

This advanced-level course is intended for improvisers with some previous training, including learners developing beyond fundamental techniques and experienced performers seeking a different approach to scene work. Participation includes working closely with scene partners and performing improvised scenes.

• Includes performance in a La Ronde showcase format
