Advanced Scriptwriting Workshop

About this course

The workshop focuses on developing and refining scripts for film, television and theatre. Participants generate ideas, examine story and plot, build characters, work with dialogue and subtext, and consider scenes, structure, tension and conflict. Script formatting and different writing methods and mediums are also covered. Teaching combines interactive lectures, writing exercises completed in class and at home, tutor feedback, peer review and table reads. Participants develop their own script with structured guidance, then use revision and editing to refine the work.

This course is intended for experienced writers working towards a more advanced level of scriptwriting, including film, television and play scripts. Participation includes writing exercises, class discussions, peer review and table reads. A reasonable level of English, equivalent to GCSE standard, is required.
