About this course
The course develops solo performance skills through classical repertoire including operatic arias, oratorio and art songs. Participants work towards a portfolio of at least three suitable pieces, selecting repertoire with guidance and preparing an aria for the first session. Teaching takes place in a masterclass format, with individual performance slots supported by feedback from the tutor, accompanist and group. Sessions also include peer discussion, questions and occasional group exercises, alongside three drama-coaching sessions each term. The course concludes with a public student recital and feedback, with video and audio recordings made towards the end for self-assessment.
