About this course
The course uses a masterclass format in which each singer receives an allocated session with the tutor, accompanist and peer group. Participants prepare a portfolio of at least three pieces, with work centred on operatic arias, oratorio and art songs. Sessions address musical, linguistic and dramatic interpretation, repertoire choices, pronunciation in Italian, French and German, and presentation for auditions or recitals. Peer discussion, feedback and occasional group exercises form part of the wider class. Audio and video recordings may be made for self-assessment, and the course may conclude with a public student recital followed by feedback.
