About this course

Participants learn the main Affinity Photo tools through supervised workflows, demonstrations, discussion and guided practice. The course covers importing and organising images, colour and tonal correction, retouching, repairs, layers, adjustment layers, selections, filters and styles. It also introduces saving and exporting in suitable file formats, creating a filing system and combining images into photomontages. Google Classroom is used to share course materials, comments and images for group critiques, while notes and ongoing one-to-one guidance support the demonstrations.

Is this course right for you?

The course is intended for beginners with no prior knowledge of Affinity Photo or Canva. Participants should be able to use a computer for word processing, follow written and verbal instructions, and take part in group discussion and image critiques.

  • Basic computer experience is expected
  • Some familiarity with Photoshop may be helpful but is not essential
  • The course includes supervised practical work and group discussion
  • Participants work on Apple Mac computers

Before you go

  • Bring some of your own photographs on a memory stick; unprocessed RAW files are preferred.
  • Teaching takes place on Apple Mac computers.
  • Notes are provided.
  • Google Classroom is used to download course materials and upload images for group critiques.
