About this course

The course introduces African culture and values, the philosophical foundations of African ethics, and the communitarian ethos associated with ubuntu. It considers ideas about right and wrong, character and social relationships, then examines how African ethical principles can be applied to current moral and social questions. Each online session introduces themes through presentations and assigned readings. Learners are encouraged to engage in critical discussion, compare African ethics with other ethical traditions and undertake further reading alongside the course materials.
