Aim for Functional Skills Maths Level 1 Module 2

About this course

This module extends Entry 3 maths skills through calculations with whole and decimal numbers, fractions and percentages, applying them to everyday problem-solving. Learners work on time and duration, metric conversions involving length, weight and capacity, and data handling. Progress is monitored through formative assessment against the course outcomes, with personal targets discussed at the beginning. Homework and additional coursework are managed through Microsoft Teams, which also provides discussion boards, group chats and private messaging.

What you'll learn

• Perform addition, subtraction, multiplication and division with whole numbers and decimals, both with and without a calculator
• Calculate fractional and percentage parts of quantities
• Work out durations using start times, end times and event schedules
• Convert between metric units of length, weight and capacity

Is this course right for you?

The course is designed for learners who have achieved Entry 3 Maths or an equivalent standard and have English or ESOL skills at the same level. An assessment is required before enrolment. Participation includes compulsory homework, personal study, regular attendance and punctuality.

Before you go

• Learners need to bring a calculator, writing materials, a notebook and a geometry set.
