The course introduces Ancient Greek characters, essential vocabulary and grammar, leading to reading simple sentences and excerpts from Greek authors and philosophers. Language study is connected with cultural topics including Athens and Sparta, democracy, philosophy, medicine and technology. Teaching combines pair and group exercises, structured dialogues, listening activities and discussion. Learners also examine Greek roots in modern English and consider how Ancient Greek civilisation has influenced contemporary language, politics and institutions. Progress is reviewed through classroom observation, activities and a Personal Learning Plan.
