Animation with Procreate Dreams

About this course

The course combines animation tutorials, software instruction, clip analysis and short exercises. Participants explore the 12 Principles of Animation, character acting, strong poses, movement cycles, background and character design, and the animation production process. Using Procreate Dreams, they work with compose, keyframe and performance modes, the flipbook, colour, layers, masks, grading, video and photographs. The course also covers importing, exporting and troubleshooting animation, with individual feedback and opportunities to share work.

The course is intended for absolute beginners, with no animation or drawing experience required. It also suits learners with some animation experience who want to revisit or brush up on their skills. Sessions involve short exercises, sharing work and individual feedback, while homework is encouraged but not compulsory.

Before you go

• Participants need an iPad with Procreate Dreams installed and fully charged.
• A fully charged iPencil is required.
• Participants should bring a charger; iPads can be charged during the lunch break.
• A small amount of homework is set. It is recommended but not compulsory.
