Arabic beginners: module 1

About this course

The course develops basic Arabic communication through greetings, introductions, personal information, family, work, physical descriptions, numbers and daily routines. Learners practise speaking and listening while studying masculine and feminine forms, the present tense, articles and personal pronouns. Arabic script is introduced progressively, including two groups of alphabet letters, the short vowels fatha, kasra and damma, and pronunciation. Teaching uses pair and group work, role plays, games, presentations, hand-outs and audio-visual resources. Homework is recommended to consolidate learning.

Is this course right for you?

The course is suitable for complete beginners and for learners with basic Arabic knowledge or experience of a short intensive course who want to restart from the beginning. Learners need to follow simple instructions and read course documents in English. Familiarity with everyday numbers is needed, while basic grammar terminology would be helpful.
