Arabic beginners: module 2

About this course

The course develops practical Arabic for everyday situations, including discussing work and family, describing homes and places, asking for directions, using transport and shopping for food. Learners also practise numbers and expressions for asking about word meanings. Teaching centres on spoken interaction and communication, with pair and group work, role plays, games, presentations, hand-outs and audio-visual resources. Arabic script is introduced progressively, alongside grammar covering articles, sun and moon letters, prepositions, hamza, questions, the genitive case, regular plurals and adjectives. Cultural elements from Arabic-speaking countries are incorporated into the topics.

What you'll learn

• Discuss jobs, workplaces, family members, homes and places using basic Arabic.
• Ask for directions, describe locations and explain where objects are.
• Use Arabic vocabulary and expressions for transport, food shopping and numbers.
• Form and understand basic questions, prepositions, adjectives and regular plurals.
• Recognise and use elements of Arabic script, including sun and moon letters and hamza.
• Describe aspects of Arabic-speaking cultures connected with the course topics.

Is this course right for you?

This course is intended for Beginner (A1) learners who have completed Arabic beginners: module 1 or have equivalent knowledge. Participation involves spoken interaction, pair and group activities, role plays and games. Homework is highly recommended to consolidate classroom learning.
