What Pre-intermediate (A2+) Arabic means

At A2+ Arabic, learners can connect simple sentences, give reasons and manage a wider range of familiar situations.

    أفضل السفر بالقطار لأنه أكثر راحة ويمكنني القراءة فيه.

    I prefer travelling by train because it is more comfortable and I can read.

  • Handle a small problem

    الغرفة باردة جداً. هل يمكنكم فحص التدفئة؟

    زرت القاهرة العام الماضي وأعجبتني هندستها المعمارية كثيراً.

About this course

The course develops Arabic through discussion of arts, cinema and cultural topics, including film genres, Arab celebrities, Egyptian comedies and television dramas. Learners practise criticism and debate while working systematically on grammar, vocabulary and pronunciation. Teaching is conducted in Arabic, with spoken communication supported by group activities and role-plays. Learners also watch one of three specified films and write a review, combining language practice with cultural study.

Is this course right for you?

This low-intermediate course is intended for learners developing beyond foundational Arabic study. Previous study is required, specifically Arabic Level 13 or a course comprising at least 156 class hours. Lessons involve spoken communication, group work and role-plays, with learners expected to engage with Arabic throughout.

  • Entry is based on Arabic Level 13 or at least 156 previous class hours.
  • Coursework includes watching a specified film and writing a review.
