About this course

This course develops Arabic communication through role-plays, group work and classroom interaction conducted in the target language. Learners work on listening and speaking alongside structured study of grammar, vocabulary and pronunciation. Topics include asking questions, giving directions, describing places, discussing countries and nationalities, using numbers, and buying and selling. Grammar work covers present-tense negation, sun and moon letters, the genitive case, Hamza spelling, Idafa, dual forms and the use of عندي when discussing family. The course also includes an introduction to the Arab world through map-based cultural study.

• Ask for information, directions, quantities and prices in Arabic.
• Describe cities, towns, countries and nationalities.
• Use present-tense negation and selected Arabic grammatical forms.
• Apply sun and moon letter conventions and Hamza spelling rules.
• Form possessive constructions using Idafa and use the dual form.

Is this course right for you?

The course is intended for Elementary learners who have already studied Arabic at beginner level. It requires previous completion of Arabic Level 1 or a course comprising at least 12 class hours. Lessons involve group work, role-plays and spoken interaction, with the teacher using Arabic throughout.
