What Elementary (A2) Arabic means

At A2 Arabic, learners can handle simple routine exchanges and describe familiar aspects of everyday life.

  • Describe your routine

    عادةً أذهب إلى العمل بالحافلة وأعود إلى البيت في السادسة.

    I normally go to work by bus and return home at six.

  • Make a simple plan

    هل تود أن نذهب إلى السينما بعد ظهر السبت؟

    Would you like to go to the cinema on Saturday afternoon?

  • Talk about the recent past

    تناولت العشاء مع أصدقائي أمس، ثم ذهبنا في نزهة.

    Yesterday I had dinner with friends and then we went for a walk.

About this course

The course develops communication around personal information, family and friends, nationality, greetings, childhood experiences, homes, renting a room and shared housing. Learners also examine aspects of Egypt and Saudi Arabia. Teaching combines spoken activities, group work and role-plays with structured study of pronouns, the past tense, plurals, adjectives, vocabulary and pronunciation. The teacher uses Arabic throughout the lessons, giving learners opportunities to practise comprehension and listening alongside speaking.

This course is intended for Elementary (A2) learners who are already studying Arabic. Previous completion of Arabic Level 6 or at least 72 class hours is required. Participation includes group work and role-plays, with Arabic used by the teacher throughout the lessons.
