About this course
Participants will make rapid sketches while walking through the city, experimenting with ways to record fast-moving subject matter and select and edit what they observe. Demonstrations are followed by practical application, with one-to-one and group discussion used to examine the work. Reflection on personal observations and sketches forms part of the learning process.

Is this course right for you?
The course is suitable for all levels, so the level label does not indicate a specific previous experience requirement. Participation involves walking and standing for some of the session, alongside individual reflection and discussion with the group.
- Participants need to be able to go on a walk
- Standing is required for some of the session
- The course includes one-to-one and group discussion
Before you go
- Basic pencils, sharpeners and rubbers are provided.
- Participants need to bring a hardback sketchbook between A5 and A4 size.
- Additional drawing materials such as preferred pens, pencils or coloured crayons may be brought.
- A portable stool may be brought for use during the walk.
