About this course
The course develops aural awareness through relative-solfa sight-singing, transcription of rhythms and melodies, and work on harmony, including chord progressions and cadences in major and minor keys. Score reading is used to identify salient musical features. Teaching centres on practical exercises involving group singing, movement, clapping and listening. The approach follows Kodály principles, with musical experience at the centre of learning, and can support learners developing their own musicianship or a Kodály-based approach to teaching.
