About this course

The course introduces AutoCAD’s Mac interface and the 3D modelling workspace. Participants practise navigating 3D space, creating basic solid shapes, setting dimensions, and turning 2D profiles into 3D forms through extrusion and sweeping. They also explore combining, subtracting and modifying solids, including the use of fillets, chamfers and sectioning. Teaching combines step-by-step demonstrations with practical exercises, group discussions, individual tutorials and one-to-one guidance. Further topics include materials, textures, colour, rendering, extracting sections from models, using blocks and groups, and printing drawings to scale. Homework is assigned after the first two classes.

What you'll learn

  • Navigate the AutoCAD for Mac interface and use its terminology
  • Create and modify 3D solid models using basic shapes, extrusion and sweeping
  • Combine, subtract, section and refine solid objects with fillets and chamfers
  • Apply materials, textures and colour to models and generate renderings
  • Extract section drawings and print AutoCAD files to scale
