About this course

Participants shape clay into mushroom candleholders using hand-building techniques, then decorate their pieces with coloured slips from the autumn range. The workshop focuses on forming individual ceramic objects by hand, with each participant creating up to three candleholders for firing. Finished pieces are glazed after drying according to the selected finish.

Is this course right for you?

This workshop is intended for beginner learners and explicitly requires no previous experience. Participants work on their own candleholder pieces within a small workshop setting, following demonstrations and guidance as they build and decorate.

Before you go

• An apron or old T-shirt is recommended to protect clothing.
• Short nails and tied-back hair are recommended.
• Clay, glazes, coloured slips and all necessary tools are included.
• Up to three candleholders per person can be sent for firing. Pieces that are too large or fragile may not be fired.
• Finished pieces are expected to be ready for collection three to six weeks after the class. They should be collected within three weeks of becoming ready.
