About this course

The course develops the ability to receive and produce basic signs in British Sign Language, with assessment based on communication about simple, everyday topics. Learners work towards the three units required for the Level 1 Signature Award: 101, 102 and 103. Class learning is supplemented by set homework and independent consolidation. Progress is assessed through the requirements of all three Signature units, which must be completed to achieve the qualification.

Is this course right for you?

The course is described as suitable for complete beginners and learners with little BSL knowledge, although the course information also advises having basic BSL knowledge or having completed an introductory course. Learners should be prepared to practise between classes and complete set homework.
