Award in Photography Entry 1

An entry-level photography qualification covering camera use, creative image-making, digital editing and portfolio development, with no previous experience required.
About this course
The qualification covers two connected areas: using camera settings, lenses, positions and accessories to create photographs, and manipulating digital images with computer software. Participants explore subjects including portraits, landscapes and buildings, while considering composition, copyright, privacy, health and safety, and ethical image use. Progress is demonstrated through a portfolio containing experimental photographs, image reviews, edited work and a final selection showing development. Assessment takes place during class through portfolio evidence rather than exams, with tutor feedback and the opportunity to resubmit work that is not yet at the required standard.
