About this course
The course introduces core classical ballet technique through barre exercises, centre work and travelling sequences. Learners work with music ranging from classical and piano to world music and jazz, while studying posture, placement, basic positions and musical timing. Movements are demonstrated and explained clearly, with regular tutor feedback. Learning may also include film, photography, websites and online communities connected with dance. Participants can set personal targets linked to the course outcomes and possible future progression.

Is this course right for you?
This beginner-level course is intended as an introduction to classical ballet and includes physical dance practice. A good basic level of fitness is required, along with regular attendance, punctuality and some preparation outside class.

Before you go
- Bring a leotard or T-shirt, leggings or tights, soft ballet shoes, appropriate dance support and a bottle of water.
- Secure or neatly tie back long hair. Jewellery and watches are discouraged where possible.
- Some preparation may be required outside class time.
- Photography and filming may be used for learning and publicity, with the option to give or decline consent.
- Those who are pregnant, have a serious health condition or have a history of injury are advised to consult a doctor. Inform the tutor about any physical activity that should be avoided.
