About this course
The course develops ballet beyond precise step execution, using artistry, musicality and changes in dynamics to shape movement with greater intention. Learners explore contrasts such as sustained and accented actions, speed, flow, sharpness and softness, applying them to barre and centre work. More intricate combinations are used to challenge coordination and responsiveness to music. Class work also covers phrasing, timing, focus, upper-body coordination, turns and a short expressive sequence performed from memory.
What you'll learn
- Apply contrasting dynamic qualities to centre combinations
- Align movement with musical counts, phrasing and accents
- Perform turns such as pirouette or chaîné sequences with greater control
- Perform a short expressive sequence from memory using focus and upper-body coordination
