About this course
The class develops classical ballet technique through barre work, centre practice, port de bras, adage, pirouettes, petit allegro, diagonal turns and jumps. Exercises are intended to consolidate foundational skills while introducing a broader technical range. Teaching combines practical studio work with regular tutor feedback. Learning may also draw on film, photography, websites and online dance communities, while some preparation outside class involves developing exercises to share with fellow students.

Is this course right for you?
This course is intended for learners with some previous classical ballet experience, including those consolidating beginner-level skills. The physical work is more technically demanding and requires a reasonable level of fitness, regular attendance and punctuality. Some preparation and sharing of exercises with fellow students is also included.
- Previous knowledge of basic ballet positions and vocabulary is required
- A recent background of approximately one year of study is stated
- The class involves physically demanding dance practice and gradual stamina-building
- Some preparation takes place outside class time
Before you go
- Bring a leotard or T-shirt, leggings or tights, and soft split-sole ballet shoes.
- Men are asked to bring dance support and women may wear a ballet skirt.
- Hair should be tied back; jewellery and watches should not be worn.
- Learners with pregnancy, serious health conditions or a history of injury are advised to consult a doctor and inform the tutor about activities they have been advised to avoid.
- Class activities may be photographed or filmed for learning and provider publicity. Learners can consent to or decline recording.
