Ballet: perform a choreographed work (pre-intermediate)

About this course

Classes develop ballet technique through structured barre and centre work before introducing a longer choreographed piece in stages. Learners practise alignment, coordination, port de bras, turnout and musical phrasing while building the precision and stamina needed for more complex sequences. The choreography includes ensemble and unison sections, requiring attention to spacing, timing and coordination with the group. Learners work towards performing the completed piece in an end-of-year show, using contrasting dynamic qualities such as adagio and allegro.

The course is intended for intermediate-level ballet learners developing beyond fundamental technique and working towards a complete choreographed performance. Participation includes structured class work, learning choreography progressively and rehearsing ensemble and unison sections with others.
