Ballroom Classes - Improvers

About this course

The course develops technique across Standard Ballroom and Latin styles, with example dances including Waltz, Tango, Jive, Quickstep, Cha Cha and Rumba. Sessions focus on new steps and patterns, smoother transitions, timing, posture, frame and expressive movement. Partner work includes practising lead and follow, balance, communication and connection. Participants rotate partners during the class, and can attend without bringing a partner. Each course focuses on two key styles from the wider Standard and Latin repertoire.

This Improvers course is intended for learners who have completed a beginner ballroom course or already know the basic steps of several Ballroom and Latin dances. Classes involve group participation, partner rotation and work with a variety of partners.

Before you go

• Wear comfortable clothing that allows easy movement.
• Smooth-soled shoes are recommended for turning and gliding; trainers with heavy-grip soles should be avoided.
