About this course

The course introduces essential PC and internet skills through step-by-step tasks supported by tutor guidance. Participants practise creating, editing, saving, storing and sharing files, including Word documents and photographs, and use online information in documents. Sessions also cover everyday websites, Zoom meetings and basic cyber-security. Learners work independently and with other students, with individual tutor support and activities designed to develop familiarity with computer terminology, file management and safe online practice. Work outside class uses Google Classroom.

This beginner course is intended for learners building their computer and internet skills through individual and collaborative tasks. Teaching is step by step, with tutor guidance and some work outside class. The provider recommends a separate Getting Started course for complete beginners.

Before you go

  • Bring a pen, lined A4 paper and a folder for coursework.
  • Handouts and a Google Classroom access code are provided.
  • Access to a PC outside class is helpful.
