About this course

The course introduces metal jewellery-making through tutor demonstrations, explanations and supervised practice in a specialist jewellery studio. Participants explore how metals behave, then work with techniques including piercing, drilling, shaping with pliers, soldering, pickling, filing and cleaning. They annotate practical tasks and make simple sketches to develop their own jewellery ideas. The work may include decorative rings, bangles, earrings and pendants, culminating in a finished jewellery piece that applies the basic processes covered.

• Copper and brass sheet can be purchased in the workshop.
• Silver must be purchased independently; tutors can advise on buying materials for individual projects.
