Beginners' jewellery II

About this course

The course uses set projects to introduce bezel settings for cabochon stones and tube settings for faceted stones. Learners practise cutting, filing, annealing, forming, sanding, silver soldering, drilling and polishing, with guidance on using machinery and working safely. Teaching combines demonstrations for the group with individual demonstrations and guidance. Group discussion and feedback are encouraged. Learners also receive an introduction to London’s Jewellery Quarter for those considering precious metals and gemstones for their own designs.

What you'll learn

• Apply silver solder with guidance
• Create settings for cabochon and faceted stones

• Make at least one piece of jewellery based on an original design

Is this course right for you?

The course is intended for complete beginners and learners with some jewellery-making experience. It involves practical work through set projects, supported by demonstrations to the group and individuals, as well as group discussion and feedback.
