About this course
The course introduces bellydance movement styles, cultural context and related variations. Participants practise warm-ups, basic movements, footwork, arm and hand coordination, then combine these elements in short sequences leading to a brief choreography, with options to suit different levels of experience.
What you'll learn
- Perform warm-up exercises that develop the strength and muscle control used in bellydance
- Execute basic bellydance movements with quarter- and half-time timing
- Coordinate footwork patterns with short movement combinations
- Combine arm and hand movements with the dance
- Perform short combinations with or without finger cymbals
Is this course right for you?
The course is intended for beginners, including learners with little or no previous experience, as well as those with some existing bellydance knowledge. It involves physical dance and fitness activity, with different movement options provided. Regular attendance and punctuality are expected.
