All Levels

An all-levels, hands-on Bengali cookery class where participants prepare shared dishes and eat the meal together.

About this course

The class explores Bengali cookery through a shared kitchen format. Participants choose one dish to focus on, then help prepare other recipes as the group works through a menu that may include curries, dhal, bhuna dishes, pakora, salad and vegetable preparations. Teaching centres on cooking together and learning from each recipe. Once preparation is complete, the group sits down to eat the food made during the class.

What you'll learn

  • Prepare a selected Bengali dish from the class menu.
  • Follow recipes for additional Bengali dishes prepared by the group.

Is this course right for you?

The all-levels label suggests the class is open to learners across experience levels, without specifying a prerequisite. It uses a family-style format: everyone works together, each person chooses one dish to focus on, and participants have the opportunity to assist with other recipes before sharing the finished meal.

Before you go

  • The menu is subject to change.
  • The listed menu includes beef and seabass, with fish, milk and mustard identified as allergens.
  • Six of the eight listed dishes are meat-free, including vegetarian and vegan options.
  • Specific dietary requirements should be shared in advance, but ingredients will not be substituted.
  • A sit-down meal of the food prepared during the class is included.
