About this course

Participants study Black life models through drawing and clay modelling, exploring looking, making and the Black aesthetic. Teaching combines group demonstrations, step-by-step instruction and one-to-one guidance while learners work alongside the tutor. The course also considers the representation and visibility of people of colour in museums and galleries through discussion and debate. Practical work includes preparing hollowed clay studies for firing, alongside an introduction to studio health and safety.
