Bordeaux Deep Dive: The Super Seconds

An all-levels masterclass examining Bordeaux’s so-called Super Seconds through estate comparisons, regional context and a tasting of eight wines.
About this course
This masterclass explores Bordeaux estates positioned just below the First Growths, considering their terroirs, winemaking philosophies and reputations within the region’s classification system. The tasting travels across Pessac-Léognan, Margaux, Saint-Julien, Pauillac, Saint-Estèphe and Sauternes, featuring wines from Château Palmer, Léoville Las Cases, Pichon Baron, Lynch-Bages, Rieussec and other estates. Older vintages provide a basis for examining maturity, including wines with around a decade and several decades of development. Champagne Bollinger Special Cuvée is served as an apéritif.
