About this course
The course develops spoken English for everyday situations, including speaking to a child’s teacher and requesting information from local services. Learners practise short conversations, asking and answering questions, sharing ideas and responding to others in group discussions. Teaching focuses on understanding everyday spoken instructions and the main points of short conversations, alongside using simple sentences, useful phrases and communication strategies. The course is intended as preparation for a Getting Ready for Functional Skills English or Functional Skills course.
