About this course
Learners explore several calligraphy and lettering methods, including gel pens, broad-edge pens, flexible nibs and cut-paper techniques. Short projects apply these methods to gift tags, greeting cards, simple illustrations and custom-sized envelopes. Teaching combines group and individual demonstrations with examples and worksheets, allowing participants to develop at their own pace. The course also includes opportunities to practise lettering and sketching, with more advanced participants able to pursue self-directed projects with tutor guidance.

The course is intended for complete beginners and for learners refreshing earlier calligraphy or lettering skills. Participation includes group discussion, group demonstrations and individual practice. Learners should be able to follow simple written and spoken instructions, and some practice between sessions would be beneficial.
