About this course

The course explores the development of a calligraphic piece, beginning with script analysis and the study of Roman capitals. Participants work with skeleton letters and pen-made letters, examine variations within a script, and consider how text is arranged on the page. Teaching combines visual presentations, demonstrations, individual instruction, group discussion and practical work. The course concludes with the design and production of a finished calligraphic piece.

Listed as suitable for all levels, the course is intended for learners who can follow simple written and verbal instructions, demonstrations and hand-outs. Participants should also be able to use numbers and carry out basic measurements and calculations. Group discussion forms part of the class.
