An all-levels calligraphy course covering Western letterforms, historical styles, writing instruments and personal projects through demonstrations and feedback.
About this course
The course introduces Western calligraphy through historical and contemporary examples, with step-by-step demonstrations of letterforms and alphabets. Learners practise using pencils, broad-edge and pointed nib pens, brushes and other calligraphic instruments while considering how different styles developed. Tutor guidance, practical tasks, self-assessment and peer review are used throughout. Learners can develop a portfolio, explore personal approaches and apply calligraphic alphabets to their own projects.
