About this course
The course develops calligraphy with broad-edged metal nibs, including work with different nib sizes, ink and gouache. Learners practise writing on varied paper surfaces and create a longer quotation or poem. Teaching combines group and individual demonstrations with examples and worksheets, allowing participants to work at their own pace. More advanced learners can use gouache in their final lettering project.

Is this course right for you?
The course is intended for complete beginners as well as learners returning to calligraphy to refresh their skills. Participants should be able to follow simple written and verbal instructions for demonstrations, handouts and health and safety information. Group discussion forms part of the course, alongside individual practice.

Before you go
- Participants need to purchase an A3 folder, a 3.8mm item listed by the provider without a specified type, a pencil and a notebook.
- Improvers also need a 2.4mm Parallel Pilot pen.
- The provider will give advice about additional calligraphy tools and materials for practice or further study.
