About this course

The course examines the basic principles of glaze recipes, including how different materials affect the finished glaze. Participants weigh and mix test batches, add colouring oxides, and create line and blend tests before applying glazes to ceramic forms of different shapes and sizes. Teaching combines explanation of material chemistry with practical studio work. Results are reviewed, analysed and discussed as a group, helping participants relate test outcomes to glaze technology and application methods.
