Ceramics taster: Bengali inspired tiles of mythology, flora and life

About this course

Participants develop ceramic tile designs from guided research into Bengali-inspired visual themes, including mythology, flora and narrative imagery. The course covers hand-building, carving and relief techniques, alongside surface decoration with slips and underglazes and an introduction to how designs translate through firing. Teaching combines presentations, demonstrations, group discussion, peer knowledge sharing and individual guidance. Learners work on individual projects at their own pace, receiving verbal and written feedback and opportunities to review their work with the tutor and peers. There is no formal assessment or set homework.
