About this course

Participants work on individual ceramic projects while refining their technical and design skills. Tutor-led demonstrations cover hand-building, throwing, decoration, glazing and on-glaze techniques, with guidance adapted to project needs. The course combines practical studio work with group and individual discussions, self-assessment and problem-solving. Slideshows and reference resources introduce historical and contemporary ceramic practice, helping participants consider techniques and materials in a wider context. Safe studio practice is also addressed.

What you'll learn

  • Develop ceramic work using hand-building, throwing, decorating and glazing techniques
  • Evaluate techniques and materials in relation to individual project work
  • Identify historical and contemporary approaches to ceramic practice
  • Apply safe working practices in a ceramics studio
