About this course
Participants form chamber ensembles, propose repertoire and take responsibility for organising rehearsals. Rehearsal sessions may include tutor coaching, followed by a class performance in which one group plays for the tutor and other students and receives feedback. The programme covers contrasting repertoire from at least two historical periods. Music study may involve recordings, online video and mobile applications, while learners are also expected to contribute to discussions in English and complete work outside class.

Is this course right for you?
The course is intended for instrumentalists playing at Grade 8 ABRSM standard or an equivalent level. Participation involves collaborative rehearsals, performances, discussions in English and regular practice outside class. New students undergo a short, informal audition before enrolling.
- Previous instrumental study to Grade 8 or equivalent is expected
- Regular practice, reliable attendance and punctuality are required
- Learners work in chamber ensembles and perform for the class
- New students are subject to an informal audition
