About this course
The course develops Chinese across speaking, listening, reading and writing, with pronunciation practice and work on more complex grammar and vocabulary. Materials explore Chinese cities, attractions, geography, culture, food and history through situational dialogues and travel articles, alongside reading Chinese characters. Teaching centres on spoken interaction and communication. Learners take part in pair and group work, role plays, games, reviews, and controlled writing and presentation activities, supported by presentations, hand-outs and audio-visual resources.
What you'll learn
- Consolidate more complex Chinese grammatical points, mainly from HSK levels 3 and 4.
- Improve the accuracy and naturalness of Chinese pronunciation.
- Develop Chinese vocabulary, including approximately 80 new words.
- Practise speaking, listening, reading and writing through structured activities.
- Develop competence in reading Chinese characters.
- Extend knowledge of Chinese cultures and traditions.
Is this course right for you?
This course is intended for Advanced (C1+) learners who have completed Chinese 4: module 1, studied Chinese for approximately five years recently, or developed equivalent competence. Participation involves spoken communication, pair and group activities, role plays and presentations.
- Previous Chinese study or equivalent language competence is expected.
- Learners should be prepared to participate in interactive pair and group activities.
