About this course
The course develops spoken and written Mandarin through everyday topics including routines, dates, birthdays, telephone numbers, addresses, likes and dislikes. Learners practise pronunciation, intonation and the five tones, use the present tense, and work with numbers, simple sentences and additional Chinese characters. Teaching centres on spoken interaction and communication, with pair and group work, role plays, games, presentations, hand-outs and audio-visual resources. The course also introduces aspects of Chinese culture, customs and traditions alongside language practice.
