At A1 Mandarin, learners are beginning to use familiar words and simple sentences in predictable everyday situations.

About this course

The course introduces the development and structure of Chinese characters, including stroke order and 24 radicals. Learners work towards recognising around 30 characters, writing basic characters and forming simple words and sentences, with greetings included in the language practice. Teaching uses spoken interaction, pair and group activities, role plays and games, supported by presentations, hand-outs and audio-visual resources. Homework is highly recommended to consolidate learning.

This course is intended for complete beginners and does not require previous knowledge of Chinese.
