CILEX Certificate in Legal Practice


An in-person, intermediate-level legal qualification covering legal systems, professional legal skills, and either conveyancing practice or wills and probate practice.
About this course
This introductory qualification covers legal systems and professional legal skills, then allows learners to focus on either Conveyancing Practice or Wills and Probate Practice. It forms part of the CILEX Professional Qualification framework and is designed for people entering the legal profession or working in junior legal roles. Teaching takes place in person, with self-study between sessions. Assessment is through assignments and examinations set by CILEX. The qualification can provide exemptions from two or more CPQ Foundation stage module exams through a transition product.

Is this course right for you?
The course is intended for people entering the legal profession and those in junior legal roles who want to develop specialist legal knowledge. Current experience in a legal practice is advantageous but not necessary. GCSE English at grade C/4 or above and good oral and written communication skills are required.
- A university degree is not required for this route into law.
- The course combines fortnightly in-person study with self-study between sessions.
