About this course
The course develops clarinet technique through work on breathing, articulation, fingering and tone, alongside theoretical study, aural skills and increasingly complex rhythmic notation. Participants begin playing repertoire around Grade 2 standard, work on tutor-advised individual pieces and explore solo playing and musical interpretation. Teaching combines explanation and demonstration with playing as a group, individual playing, class discussion and duets. Repertoire spans classical, jazz and popular styles, with opportunities to develop simple improvisation and ensemble playing.
