Clothesmaking – Intermediate

About this course

Participants develop techniques for making a simple summer dress or party garment from a commercial pattern. The course covers interpreting pattern pieces and grain lines, cutting fabric accurately, constructing seams, working with interfacing, inserting fastenings and creating hems, including a rolled hem for fine fabrics. Teaching combines an overview of clothesmaking equipment with guided sewing practice. Participants also learn pressing techniques and methods for achieving neat results when working with silk, fine and luxury fabrics.
