Collage and mixed media: 3D approaches

About this course

The course examines how artists use collage and three-dimensional construction, then applies these ideas through practical exercises. Participants create drawn and painted paper surfaces before developing collages and paper forms. The work progresses towards assemblages that combine found imagery and objects with personal mark-making, considering form, space, scale and juxtaposition. Techniques include working with different papers, drawing and painting materials, mono-printing, photocopied images and other mixed-media processes. Teaching includes presentations, demonstrations, group discussion and individual tuition, with participants making work independently.
